Learn how to intersperse custom cards in your Item Catalog using Partial items.
This technique uses Partial Items — an item type designed for use with Baskets And Packages — to insert custom display cards at specific positions within the Item Catalog. The example below uses sponsor cards, but the same approach works for any content you want to display within the catalog.
Works for more than sponsors
The content of the Partial item is only limited to the standard Partial item fields and the Images and Links tab. This approach can be adapted for a variety of use cases beyond sponsor display.
Step 1: Renumber Your Items
Custom cards are positioned by item number, so you'll need to create gaps in your existing item number sequence for the custom cards to occupy.
Use the Item Numbering function to renumber your items with intervals — for example, numbering items 10, 20, 30, and so on. Apply this to All Items using the Choose Items options.
Curated placement only
Custom cards are placed by assigning them item numbers that fall within the intervals you create. There is no method to randomly insert or sort custom cards in the catalog.
Step 2: Create a Partial Item
Create a new item using the Partial Items type. Set the Item # to a value that falls within one of the intervals you created — for example, 155 to place the card between items 150 and 160.
Item # and Type are required
The Item # must fall within your intended interval, and the Type must be set to Partial. These two settings are what allow the item to appear at the correct position in the catalog.
Repeat this step for each custom card you want to add, assigning each a unique item number within the appropriate interval.
Step 3: Configure the Item Catalog
Once your Partial items are created, update the Item Catalog's display conditions to include the Partial Lot item type:
- Open the Website Editor on the page with your Item Catalog.
- Select the Item Catalog element and click Configure next to Items Displayed.
- Click the existing Items with types condition to edit it.
- Select Partial Lot from the item types list.
- Click Save.
Your custom cards will now appear in the catalog at the positions defined by their item numbers.
