Will Registering Online Create Duplicates?
If a participant is first added through the dashboard, will another participant record be created when the Participant registers online?
The event website recognizes participants by their email address.
Registering a participant from the dashboard is straightforward. If the guest registers online with the same email, the system will simply update the existing record. However, if the guest registers with a different email, a new participant record will be created. A new record will be created upon online registration if no email is entered.
When a participant is added from the dashboard and...
- a guest registers online with the same email that you had entered, it will use the same record;
- the guest registers with a different email, it will create a new participant record; or,
- if an email address is not entered in the participant record, a new record will be created when the guest registers online.
When participants are added from the dashboard (including email addresses), Participant Online Access And Tokens can be emailed. The registration link in the email will update the same participant record.
In the rare case where two records are created for one Participant, our system has a solution. You can use the Merge Participant function from the Participant Details screen to combine them into a single participant record, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
