Ticket Sales
Learn the various ways to sell Admission Tickets with Auctria.
💰 Selling Tickets
Once your tickets are set up, it's time to start selling! Auctria offers multiple ways to sell tickets — whether you're handling admin-side sales or letting guests purchase directly from your event website.
This page covers all your options for selling tickets, plus how to limit availability and manage refunds.
🖥️ Selling from the Auctria Dashboard
Admins can sell tickets manually from the Auctria dashboard's Tickets or Sales pages. This is a great option if you're handling sales over the phone, in person, or need to reserve specific tickets for key guests.
- You'll choose the ticket item and assign it to a participant.
- If the participant doesn't exist yet, you can create one on the fly.
- You can enter payment details or leave the balance unpaid.
For step-by-step instructions, see How To Sell Tickets.
📱 Selling via the Admin App
The Auctria Admin App lets you sell tickets on the go — perfect for box office-style sales at the door or during check-in.
- Quickly select ticket types.
- Assign or create a participant.
- Collect payment right from your device.
For more information, see Admin App Sales.
🌐 Selling on Your Event Website
Most of your ticket sales will probably happen through your event website. Just add your ticket items to your event. A Tickets page will automatically appear on your site if you're using a template, and guests can buy them like any other item — no admin action needed.
- Guests enter their own details (name, email, guest list info).
- If enabled, they can select meal choices or seating preferences.
- Ticket purchases automatically generate a participant account.
For a walkthrough of what guests see when buying tickets, see Buying Tickets.
🆓 Selling Free or Discounted Tickets
Sometimes you may want to sell "free" or discounted tickets, such as when selling tickets for teachers, faculty, or staff. There are multiple ways to provide free or discounted tickets in Auctria:
- Force the sale total to $0.
- Create a coupon code.
- Create the ticket as a donation item.
For more information, see Selling Free or Discounted Tickets.
🚫 Limiting Ticket Sales
Need to cap how many tickets are sold? The right approach depends on what you're trying to limit:
| If your goal is to... | Use |
|---|---|
| Set one overall attendance cap across all admission ticket items | Settings → Tickets Settings → Maximum number of tickets that can be sold |
| Limit the quantity available for a specific ticket item | The ticket's Item Details → Availability → Quantity |
| Create a combined, package-style limit across a group of ticket items | Baskets and Packages |
Overall Event Attendance Cap
To cap total admission ticket sales across your whole event, go to Settings Ticket Settings and set Maximum number of tickets that can be sold. This applies across all admission ticket items combined, rather than any one ticket type.
Per-Ticket Quantity
To limit how many of a specific ticket are available, open the ticket's Item Details page, go to the Availability section, and enter a value in the Quantity field. This makes it easy to create different ticket types with their own limits, like a set number of VIP seats alongside general admission tickets.
Unlimited Ticket Sales
Leave the Quantity field blank or enter 0 for unlimited sales.
Combined Ticket Limits
To restrict how many tickets across a group of ticket types can be sold, create a Basket for those ticket items. This is useful when several ticket types should share one combined limit rather than each having its own.
Any of these approaches works well for:
- Limiting total attendance.
- Reserving a fixed number of VIP seats.
- Preventing overselling at the door.
For more information, see Baskets And Packages and Combine For Sale Items.
💳 Issuing Refunds
Sometimes plans change! If a guest needs a refund, you can handle it from the Tickets dashboard or their Participant profile.
- Refund part or all of the ticket amount.
- Leave the ticket in place for record-keeping, or deactivate it.
- Optionally, reassign the ticket to someone else.
To refund a ticket, see Refund Tickets. To reassign one instead, see Transfer Tickets.
